MLB Playoffs

Dunno how many are interested in this, especially without the Jays but we're well into the post-season. 5 teams remaining and each could be a feel good thing if they win Tampa Bay and Milwaukee would be 1st time winners,Cleveland would end a 78 yr drought ,Chicago would rebound from 3 consecutive 100plus loss seasons to a title, and LA would be the 1st NL team to win 3 in a row. I think TB will beat either team and face the winner of LA vs Milwaukee (which might be the de facto WS) Some good ball ahead.

Dodgers and their deferred payments has ruined the sport.. Their owner is in quite the pickle Lockout loading come Dec 1 with MLB wanting a cap and players strongly against it but I do like the shortened season but dunno how I feel about teams getting to pick their 1st rd opponents in the playoffs Hopefully someone other than the dodgers win considering how much cheaper their rosters are, personally pulling for the brewers Unfortunately it seems like it's LA's to lose

Billion dollar payrolls will do that.

All I hope for is no Dodgers three peat at this point…

Dodgers payroll is more than the other 3 teams combined but it does not guarantee them a WS win. NYY have proved that over and over Cleveland has the lowest payroll in the MLB and the Rays consistently make the playoffs with tight budgets. MIL is a great team and the NLCS will be a great series to watch. I'm excited for the playoffs and think whoever prevails from the NL will take it all. I don't care too much about all the payroll stuff I just love seeing great baseball. I hope there is not a strike next year.

avatar grusse 2026-10-12 07:26

I'm hoping for Brewers vs Rays cuz then a team wins it for 1st time. However,I am not betting against the Dodgers, though they dropped Game 1 of NLCS.

Great game last night. That tension felt with every pitch that comes with the playoffs was felt. If LA loses tonight they are probably fucked. MIL is on fire. I'm going for Cleveland because the Rays bug me for some reason and Guardians have two Canadian pitchers who played really well in game 5. Dumb reasons but it makes watching fun.

Guardians Brewers would be fun…. but too early to call Dodgers out even though down 2 Zip. Starting rotation is scary.

Maybe if the Dodgers spent 2 billion on payroll next year they will win the world series. Go Brewers and sweep that stupid LA team.

avatar sexpanther69 2026-10-15 03:32

Awesome LA on the verge of being swept Although a new conspiracy running on social says the dodgers are throwing the series to allow a small market team wit a small payroll to win to jusitfy no salary cap is needed...... More proof social media is full of stupid Guess thsie sheep missed the Brewers were best team all year and certainly handled the dodgers during the reg season too

Regular season was 4-3 for Brewers. Hoping Milwaukee closes it tomorrow. That conspiracy theory that the Dodgers will throw the series to thwart a salary cap makes me think there was a surge of sales of tin hats?

avatar masterpoonhunter 2026-10-15 15:34

" surge of sales of tin hats " Stupid will find a way to bubble up, after all good fibrous shit does float. The Brewers are so far the better team. And that is a fine line because you know LA could break out any time at bat and put guys on base. Have always been a Dodgers fan but its time to change the guard so I'm hoping for a sweep.

Dave Roberts is an amazing coach but has met his match with this years Brewers. It is amazing to watch a Dodger lineup this talented being unable to find a way to score while MIL just chips away to victory.

avatar sexpanther69 2026-10-16 03:10

So satisfying the brewers comeback from down 4-0 to sweep!! Bet the dodgers wish they didn't visit the pedo at the white house, trump curse strikes again 😂😂

avatar Booty_lover1952 2026-10-16 04:34

Why Skubal didn't start the game or be 1st out of the bullpen, is way beyond my thinking!

I didn't watch, but I am very glad the Dodgers not only lost, but got swept. No team should be allowed to simply keep spending and keep winning. Baseball needs a hard cap. I'd love to see the Rays or Guardians take it, both under 100 million payroll. You can build a winner without the outrageous payrolls.

As a life long Giants fan nothing makes me happier than seeing the Dodgers lose. Dodgers will be right at the top of list of teams vehemently against any form hard cap. You can bet they will use the following as clear evidence everything is fine and there's no need for a hard cap: 1) with 2nd highest payroll they were swept by the Brewers with the 19th highest payroll. 2) Mets with highest payroll didn't make the playoffs 3) AL winner will be either Tampa with MLB's 25th highest payroll or Cleveland with MLB's 30th and smallest payroll.

You and the Dodgers/Mets/Yankees/Braves/Bluejays all make the same case - big payroll does not mean you have a winning team or will win the World Series. If the above proves spending more does not give a team an unfair advantage - see NY Mets - then what problem does a salary cap solve? Disclaimer - I am trying to understand why spending too much is a problem. If it doesn't work (and it doesn't seem to) then the owners of the teams who spend so much are just fools. Is that not punishment enough? Disclaimer 2 - I am disgusted by the amounts of the payrolls. I sometimes feel shame watching because it supports these outrageous salaries but I try not to think about it because I love the game.

Where spending big like Dodgers, Mets, Phillies etc becomes a problem is that it creates a two-tier system. The small market teams who can't generate the sort of revenue big market teams do become defacto feeder systems for those big markets. They can catch lightning in a bottle but as soon as their young stars approach free agency they're gone because their small market team can't afford them.
